Staff Nurse (RGN / RMN)

Responsible to the Manager/Charge Nurse, the role of the Staff Nurse is to provide nursing care for residents and help lead the care team by providing support to the Manager in all aspects of management of the home and taking charge in their absence. Staff Nurses will supervise and train other members of staff, teaching by example in all aspects of work in the home.
Hours of work are:
Dayshift
Early shift – 0745-1500 / Late shift – 1445-2200
Or
Night shift 2145-0800
Principle Responsibilities
1) To provide nursing care required to each individual resident encompassing physical, psychological and spiritual care, whilst encouraging rehabilitation.
2) To maintain:-
a) Accurate nursing records.
b) Confidentiality and dignity of residents.
c) A professional image at all times.
3) To assist in the formulation of individual care plans. Monitor, review and update these plans.
4) To be aware of and enforce Health and Safety legislation and Company Policy on this subject.
5) To deal with relatives, general enquiries and liaise with relevant agencies.
6) To attend staff meetings, participate in any relevant teaching programmes and attend appropriate staff training sessions.
7) To ensure the following:-
a) That all members of staff contribute to the efficient and successful running of the home.
b) That the preparation, cooking and serving of meals meets the required standard.
c) That the bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
8) To participate and plan the development of activities which will enhance the quality of life of the residents.
9) Staff Nurses must have an active NMC registration.

Care Assistant

Responsible to the Staff Nurses and Senior Care Assistants, the role of the Care Assistant is to provide support in all aspects of resident care.

Principle Responsibilities
To provide care and support in line with the Health and Social Care Standards - My support, my life and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Codes of Practice
To assist with the following:
- Washing, bathing, dressing and toileting.
- Mobility and overcoming of other disabilities whilst encouraging rehabilitation.
- Promotion of continence.
- Provision of physical, psychological and spiritual care.
- Setting of trays and tables at mealtimes and the feeding of residents when necessary.
- Tidying up after meals (and loading the dishwasher if no kitchen staff on duty eg: after evening drink round).
- Promotion of mental and physical activities.
To receive verbal reports on conditions of patients and matters appertaining to the home.
To observe and report to trained staff.
To be aware of Health and Safety guidelines and observe Company rules on the subject.
To make and change beds, tidy rooms and empty commodes.
To participate in mandatory training required of the role and to attend staff meetings.
To carry out any other duties at the request of the Manager or person in charge.
To inspect and prepare items for laundering.
To answer call-bells, telephone, front door and greet visitors.
To direct in-depth enquiries from relatives/visitors to the Staff Nurse or Senior Care Assistant on duty.
To obtain and maintain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), including undertaking the minimum required post registration training and learning. This will involve completing an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 (or equivalent) if not already obtained.

Maintenance Assistant
37.5 hours per week, 5 days from 7
£11.92 per hour
Reporting directly to the Senior Management team, and working in line with the Health and Social Care Standards - My support, my life and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Codes of Practice, the role of Maintenance Assistant is responsible for carrying out day to day maintenance to ensure that the Care Home is maintained in a safe and efficient functional manner.
Main Tasks of Job:
Maintenance duties:
Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service and to complete all statutory, mandatory and routine maintenance required on site according to schedule.
To ensure the company Health and Safety policy is adhered to.
Attend team meetings and complete mandatory training in line with Company policy, and relevant to the role.
Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, electrical, painting & general building work.
PAT testing.
Maintain equipment, services & vehicles in working order.
Supervise subcontractors on site.
Comply with company confidentiality policies and procedures.
Attend breakdowns of equipment, carry out fault diagnosis, repair or advise as required.
Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment & potential hazards.
Portering duties as required,
Supervision of waste uplifts and regular hosing down shed floor.
Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.
Obtain materials and equipment to carry out regular and planned work.
On occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours.
Minibus Driver duties:
Carry out safety checks on company minibus at intervals as required and follow the safety instructions/checklists provided.
Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicle.
Operate tail/disabled access lift at rear of the vehicle in
Transport residents to and from hospital appointments using company minibus.
Transport residents on minibus to social events and excursions.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.
Operate vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
Ensure the vehicle is clean inside and out.

Domestic Assistant
Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Part Time, 15 hours per week
£11.47 per hour
Reporting directly to the Domestic Supervisor, and working in line with the Health and Social Care Standards - My support, my life and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Codes of Practice, the role of the Domestic Assistant is responsible to carry out cleaning and domestic duties required in maintaining a clean, safe environment for residents and fellow staff.
Main Tasks of Job
Domestic Duties:
Clean all parts of the care home as directed, including but not limited to:
- dusting
- sweeping
- vacuuming
- mopping
- cleaning ceiling vents
- restroom cleaning
To help maintain a healthy and safe environment in the care home, complying with all infection control requirements in line with the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual, and to report all accidents to the Domestic Supervisor/Nurse in charge.
Follow all company Health and Safety policies and procedures, reporting any hazards or breakdowns in equipment, and awareness of potential accidents whilst carrying out duties (e.g. vacuum cable not trailing across walkways, cleaning trolley stored securely when not in use, etc.)
Receive daily instruction from Domestic Supervisor/Nurse in charge regarding any requirements/special measures in place for residents (e.g. barrier nursing, end of life etc.)
Carry out regular deep cleaning of bedrooms in time for new resident admissions.
Co-operate with staff from all departments to assist in supporting resident independence, maintaining resident privacy and dignity, and reporting/alerting the care staff to resident incidents.
Responsibility for ensuring cleaning trolley is in good repair, stocked adequately, and ready for next shift.
Ensuring all records are accurately completed.
Attend team meetings and complete mandatory training in line with Company policy, and relevant to the role.
Following company confidentiality policy in relation to any information overheard about residents, fellow staff, and visitors within the care home.
Laundry Duties:
To collect dirty laundry, sort for washing, and hand washing, where necessary.
To distribute residents’ clean clothing to correct bedrooms.
To keep residents’ wardrobes and drawers neat and tidy, removing unused coat hangers/food items from drawers etc.
Follow all Health and Safety regulations when using laundry equipment, such as:
Commercial washing machine
Commercial tumble dryer
Rotary iron
Steam generated iron
Inspect resident clothing and mend/sew if able. Report damages/unrepairable items to nurse in charge to make relatives aware.
To assist with domestic duties, when time allows.
